La literatura latinoamericana en China

 

Descripción del proyecto:

Este proyecto tiene como objetivo analizar el proceso de selección de texto de la literatura latinoamericana traducida y publicada en el mercado chino. En concreto, estudiaremos los criterios y mecanismos aplicados para la selección en la transferencia literaria entre América Latina y China. Esta tesis también pretende arrojar luz sobre el papel de los agentes humanos que han participado en este proceso –traductores, editores, críticos o agentes literarios, pero también actores no humanos como las instituciones– para poder identificar las redes regionales, nacionales, internacionales o transnacionales que estos actores han logrado establecer.

Con el fin de analizar sistemáticamente la circulación de la literatura latinoamericana en el campo literario chino, combinaremos métodos cuantitativos con un análisis cualitativo. Para ello, crearemos en primer lugar un corpus de traducciones de literatura latinoamericana que nos permitirá localizar a los actores en este campo. Posteriormente, llevaremos a cabo una serie de entrevistas con ellos. Completaremos estos datos con la consulta de epistolarios y otros documentos, tanto personales como oficiales. Con esta metodología, analizaremos las condiciones sociales, políticas, económicas y culturales que determinan la circulación de la literatura traducida, y los entrelazamientos entre la literatura y el mercado. A este respecto, adoptaremos un enfoque sociológico para analizar los procesos de circulación e ilustrar la interacción entre la agencia y la estructura.
 

Description of the project:

This research project is proposed to analyze the text selection process of Latin American literary works translated and published in the Chinese market. Specifically, it sets out to investigate the criteria and mechanism for the selection in the literary transfer between Latin America and China. This thesis also aims to shed light on the role of human agents who have participated in this process-translators, editors, critics and literary agents, but also non-human actors as the institutions-, as well as regional, national and international networks or transnational network established among them.

In order to analyze systematically the circulation of Latin American literature in China, we combine quantitative methods with qualitative analysis. A corpus of Chinese translations of Latin American literature will be firstly created as a base to identify the actors in this field. Subsequently a series of interviews and investigation into personal and official documents shall be conducted. In the qualitative analysis, we will focus on the political, social, economic and cultural determinants that condition the circulation and the relation between literature and market.In this regard, we will take a sociological approach to analyze the process and to illustrate the interaction between agency and structure.
